Suppressed Emotions
I’ve heard emotions referred to as “energy in motion”. So, what happens when we suppress our feelings?
Sometimes it’s “easier” to suppress than to express.
I’m personally not one to usually rock the boat. I’ve had a habit of squashing my wants and needs to not burden others.
It’s also a habit in trying to be hyper-independent and not ask for help. Can anyone else relate?
The problem is that when an emotion or “energy in motion” is stagnant, it causes all sorts of dysfunction.
Maybe your blood pressure rises, your head hurts more often, your digestion is off, or your immune system stops working so well. Maybe you lose sleep or sleep too much.
The body doesn’t lie, no matter how much we try to appear “okay” on the outside.
A stagnant river becomes easily polluted. A flowing river sustains life.
What are some ways you manage your emotional flow? Have you found ways to express your emotions in a safe and healthy way?
Acupuncture and herbal medicine are soothing modalities for emotional disturbances or suppressed emotions.
Beyond the physical realm, acupuncture also works so well on the mental-emotional body.
Many patients feel relaxed throughout their acupuncture session, often falling asleep and waking up feeling refreshed and rejuvenated. Being able to slow down enough to receive a treatment can make all the difference in feeling better mentally and emotionally. Taking the time to sit in stillness and silence, not distracting or blocking any emotions that need to come through, is very therapeutic.
This meditative space and time is yours to receive. You’re welcome to talk as much or as little as you need. Your session is all yours for the taking and you’re welcome to stay and soak in the healing environment with a warm cup of tea in hand.
Join me at Padma’s Tea House for a cozy, soothing drop-in to relaxation.
If you’re feeling off-balance and want an emotional tune-up, give acupuncture a try and see how you feel.
