Acupuncture - Traditional Medicine

Acupuncture is a healing system originating from China, using thin needles to encourage a healing response in the body.

It has been used for thousands of years for many different conditions, from the common cold to low back pain to infertility and more.

In Chinese Medicine, energy is believed to flow throughout the body. When we encounter difficult emotions or pain, the body’s energy becomes “stagnant”.

Acupuncture helps to unblock this “stuck” energy to bring the body and mind back into balance.

Western medicine is now validating acupuncture’s effectiveness in treating many modern diseases.

Research shows that acupuncture affects endorphins and other brain chemicals to help manage pain and regulate mood. It also helps to relax muscles, release areas of tension, and improve blood flow.

Acupuncture is used to treat chronic pain, headaches and migraines, digestive disorders, women’s health concerns, mental health imbalances like anxiety, stress, and insomnia, and more.

Our 1-hour acupuncture session includes a thorough intake, which may involve a physical examination and range-of-motion testing, depending on what you’re seeking help with.

Most people (even those with a fear of needles) find the entire process calming and relaxing. Some even fall asleep!

As someone who respects your experience from start to finish, I will openly communicate about everything to expect in your acupuncture session. I take my time, checking in to make sure that you are comfortable at all times. This is your session, and I am here to serve you.

I generally use 8-10 needles each session, but can adjust to more or less depending on your preference. I gently encourage you to explore the healing art of acupuncture with me so you can reap the benefits right away!

I also include add-on services such as cupping, guasha, tuina (Chinese medical massage), and herbal recommendations as necessary.

I currently offer Acupuncture in Wailuku and Makawao (border of Pukalani and Kula) in Upcountry, Maui.
